Luis R. Campos-Garcia / Lurac

visual artist • graphics designer • illustrator • photographer • educator • musician

My artwork is an invitation to promote creativity and imagination. I want to inspire the viewers to reflect on different issues, and to value cultural diversity. My work deals with imagination, yet sometimes it makes social commentary on current issues. Equally important, I am concerned with the aesthetic value of my work.

I enjoy to create worlds inhabited by fantastic creatures, whose interactions sometimes maintain a resemblance to the real world. My artwork questions the hegemony that prevails in our society by means of dealing with themes usually avoided in mainstream culture. I like to incorporate elements inspired by Mesoamerican and Mexican cultures, street art, cartoons, globalization, and politics.

I like to express myself through painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, and photography.
